My story so far

Growing up I was disenchanted by sitting in a desk all day. Physical Education class, lunch, and recess are what allowed me to float through school. Oddly enough, if I were asked at the time what would be the last profession I would choose, likely my response would have been teacher. Upon high school graduation I just did what everyone else did at the time. I went to university. My ideas of a career changed and I found myself studying for a Masters in Teaching. For a child that often “threatened” with dropping school, it is humorous to think that in effect I never left school!

My experiences in the classroom include private and public education, as well as teaching/learning internationally. This exposure allowed an opportunity to really hone in on what is most important to me. Authenticity is high atop the list, as is providing learners the opportunities for experience. Not to merely learn knowledge but to transfer learning. Or simply, TO DO. To feel empowered and to contribute. Flexibility and creativity are also core tenets, as is a joy for questioning and attempting to not only make sense of the world around us, but how we might add positively.

I am energised by L22c and the great potential that exists in a community that is interested in generously serving the world what is most needed. I look forward to building relationships and collaborating together. The future of Learning in the 22nd century begins now (or, maybe it already began!). I am ready!
